College Board National Recognition Program Awardees
Eight upper school students were selected as College Board National Recognition Program awardees based on their academic achievements in school, outstanding performance on the PSAT or AP exam and their application they each submitted last spring.

Junior Alex Andrews is a member of the varsity track team and Debate Club. He enjoys playing soccer, piano and the guitar. He has climbed Torreys Peak in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Senior Samuel Castelan is a member of the varsity soccer team, has a third degree blackbelt in Taekwondo and referees youth soccer games.
Senior Gannon Caswell is a member of the varsity wrestling team and participated in a job shadow opportunity during J-Term with American Welding Service.
Junior Gabe Cavalcanti is a member of the varsity soccer team, has played in the Jazz Band and plays drums and bass guitar with the Ballantyne School of Music. This past summer he participated in a week-long FBI program in Raleigh.
Senior Zaliyah Emmanuel is a member of the yearbook staff, Knights Knews student broadcasting group and is the conference champion for the shot-put as a member of the varsity track team. This past summer she served as a camp counselor at Camp Thunderbird.
Senior Sterling Jackson is a member of the upper school robotics team, plays bass guitar for the Jazz Band and Praise Band for chapels as well as the cello in orchestra. He is also a member of a band through the School of Rock. This past summer he worked with the CCS technology department.
Junior Evan Santaniello is a member of the varsity football team and has been involved with the track program. He also plays the trumpet and drums in the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band.
Junior Alex Smith is a member of the JV baseball team and has participated in the Debate Club.
