On December 2, a group of upper school students, along with Mrs. Lauren Miller and Mrs. Alicia Counihan, volunteered with Congregations for Kids for their annual We See You event where they showered foster parents, child welfare social workers and guardians ad litem with encouragement, love and gifts. This is the third year that a group of upper school students have participated in this event where the community comes together to say “we see you” to the foster care community and to thank them for the ways they care for vulnerable children in our city. 
 

"Each year I look forward to a fun night of dinner and serving together at CFK with CCS students. It's a joy to get to serve the community together and to introduce CCS students to this special group of people who faithfully serve those experiencing foster care," reflected Mrs. Lauren Miller, upper school college counselor.

Junior Sydney Fox said she returned to volunteer again this year because it seems like such a simple act but offers pure joy and many smiles to the guests and volunteers: "I loved seeing the joy on the social workers' faces after receiving a gift, whether it was large or small. They had real excitement to be surrounded by people who see and understand them. It reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas and how important community is."
