Charlotte Christian’s middle school chess team concluded its first season with an impressive second place finish at its first tournament. While Charlotte Christian’s team had the fewest team members, Chess Team Coordinator Lorae Israel said, “Our boys were diligent, focused and determined.” Students were committed to their success and showed up for practice and lessons before and after school and during WIN labs. “My heart is full,” Mrs. Israel gushed, “and I am so proud of how our students represented our school.”
Last year, Zealand Green, Brennan Worthington, Graham Potter and Charlie Smith proposed the middle school chess team at KnightTank and were one of the winners of the competition that encourages innovation and creativity. Seeing their vision come to life and the success of the team in its first year has everyone excited to keep up the momentum next school year.
The middle school chess team is living proof of making a dream a reality!
