“See the work God is doing and be inspired to get involved,” Mrs. Lauren Gyorfi, middle school counselor, encouraged middle school students at the onset of Kingdom Impact Day on March 11. Six local nonprofit organizations shared about their missions, the people they serve in our community and how even our middle school students can be involved and serve those around them. Each of these organizations models what it looks like to impact the culture for Christ and to care for vulnerable populations in our city.
Mrs. Gyorfi reminded students, “There are things you can do in your own community to demonstrate God’s love to others.” Each organization shared practical ways that students and their families can support them and love their neighbors well. We invite you to explore more about each of these nonprofits through this summary.

Our first Pilar’s Run was a huge success! Last year, Olivia Metzelaars, grade 6 student, presented the idea for Pilar’s Run at Knight Tank and was chosen as one of the winners of the competition, which encourages students to think innovatively and critically about ways to enhance our school community. This year, middle school students purchased t-shirts as their entry tickets for the one-mile run, and all proceeds from Pilar’s Run benefited one of our Kingdom Impact Day featured nonprofits: Congregations for Kids. We look forward to seeing how Olivia’s initiative continues to positively impact our community.
Providing service opportunities and allowing students to hear from community servant leaders emphasize our core values as students see others choosing kindness, walking humbly and loving God with their lives and their service to others.
Special thanks to Project 658, Joni and Friends, Congregations for Kids, Rice N Beans, Patriot Military Foundation and The HEARTest Yard for sharing their mission and passion with our middle school students.
