Week of June 4-8

Your child will experience a fun week of baseball with Head Coach Greg Simmons and members of the Charlotte Christian baseball staff. Students will learn baseball fundamentals from present and former players who have played collegiately and professionally. Campers will receive excellent one-on-one teaching. Skills will be videotaped, and campers will be able to review their plays daily. The goal of the camp is to develop a love for America’s favorite pastime. All skill levels and abilities are welcome.


Bees, Berries, and Biscuits

This camp is for future chefs, scientists, apiarists, and those who love summer and all things southern. Campers will learn about beekeepers, experience varieties of honey, pick berries off the vine, and create delicious recipes! Learning, combining, creating, and experiencing are key ingredients to this SWEET camp!


BroPerfect - Middle School

Based on the popular YouTube channel DUDE PERFECT, this camp is all about trick shots. Campers will design, attempt, and film a series of trick shots around Charlotte Christian’s campus. Basketballs, frisbees, footballs, and ping-pong balls are just the start. In addition to the fun of designing and performing the trick shots, students will also learn the basics of video editing software using Apple’s iMovie and produce a short video by the end of the week!


Football

Experience a week of Charlotte Christian football with Head Football Coach Jason Estep, winner of five NCISAA state championships, and members of his staff. The camp will cover all concepts of the game including: stance, starts, blocking, tackling, passing, receiving, punting, kicking and snapping. Campers will have fun while learning to play from coaches who know the game. This camp is appropriate for beginners and experienced players.


Jr. Knight Cheerleading

During this week long camp, Students will have Cheerleading fun from Bows to Toes. Campers will play games with Varsity and JV Cheerleaders, learn cheers and chants, work on basic tumbling and stunting and proper technique. Each day the Jr. Knights Cheerleaders will also make a "Cheer Craft" that they will be able to take home to remember all the fun they had that week!


LEGO® Robotics I

The LEGO® Education WeDo robotics concept is a LEGO set that provides a taste of what robotics is all about. Campers will build LEGO models featuring working motors and sensors, connect them to the computer, and use a simple programming tool for program behavior. Campers will work with a series of cross-curricular, theme-based activities and develop skills within STEM.


Mythology for Lower School

Basic introduction to Greek Mythology, focusing on the 12 Olympian gods. Campers will enjoy story-telling and theme related, hands-on activities.


SPY Camp

You will start out in “Detective School,” learning the tricks of the trade by uncovering fingerprints, looking for clues, and solving mysteries. Next, you will learn how to write a plot-twisting mystery of your own. By the end of class, you will be a better detective and a better writer.

STEM Camp

Campers will participate in hands-on activities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Activities will include goal setting, design thinking, collaboration, and FUN! Campers will also be given a daily STEM Challenge to explore the Engineering Design Process (Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create and Improve) and will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their final design at the end of each day.


Lacrosse Camp

Speed, fast-paced, exciting, fun, and the fundamentals. That's what our lacrosse camp is all about. Come learn the drills, skills, and techniques the varsity players go through everyday during practice and games. This camp will cover all facets of the game from dodging, defense, shooting, and 1v1s. All experience levels are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

Dazzle your friends and family with beautiful beaded jewelry that you designed and created. At Beading for Beginners, campers will learn the foundational skills of jewelry design and assembly. Campers will design and assemble beautiful hand beaded creations. Students will learn all about beading materials, tools, and techniques. Campers will leave camp with a wearable creation and some beading essentials, so that they can continue making beautiful creations at home.


BroPerfect - Lower School

Campers who have heard about the hot topic of coding and would like an opportunity to learn more about coding will love this camp. Coding is what allows computer programmers to build websites, apps, and computer software. In a world where technology is constantly advancing, understanding coding basics and how to code is becoming more important. Using a variety of online tutorials and hands-on tools, campers will learn basic block and object-oriented coding. No experience necessary; this is a great beginner's class!


Focus on Fun

Remember the FUN days of summers past filled with jump ropes, lemonade stands, homemade bubbles, slime, and stories told around the campfire?! Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

What could be more fun than laughing and making sweet memories with girlfriends or forming new friendships? Nothing at all! Grab a girlfriend and campers will have a daytime party with some of the best girls in Charlotte! There’s no doubt the group will have FUN as they laugh, create, and play during the time together!


LEGO® Maniacs

Children who love LEGO® bricks will love this camp! Campers will create exciting LEGO® structures through group and individual builds as they explore the history of LEGO® toys. Middle School Knights Soccer

Come join the growing Knights soccer community and spend a week with Coach Truax, former professional soccer player and current Boys Varsity Head Soccer Coach. Your player will spend this week focusing on skill development through a variety of fun and challenging skills, drills and games. Coach Truax also brings his many years of sports ministry experience and will take the opportunity to connect sport and faith. This camp is for rising 6th – 8th grade boys and girls.


Painting in the Spirit

If you are creative and want to explore how to offer your artistic gift to the Lord, this is the camp for you! In addition to working on essential artistic skills, participants will be fusing their work with experiences in prayer and worship. Bryn Gillette has led this camp for five summers, and delights to share his insights gained as both an art teacher and live worship painter in church services, concerts, and events for over a decade. Wrestling

Welcome to the Wrestle like a Christian Knight Camp. This year we are combining our lower and middle school camps in order to enhance the experience. Learn the basic skills of wrestling and the 5-Power positions that are critical for wrestling success through practice and drilling. If you are a beginning wrestler and want to hone your skills with specialized instruction or just want to learn more about the sport, this is the camp for you. More advanced wrestlers will fine tune their takedown, turning, riding and pinning skills. All wrestlers will learn and practice primary and secondary attacks from the neutral position and through repetitive drilling will acquire a complete understanding of the holds.

Art Studio

The Art Studio camp is a place for students to express their creativity and explore a wide range of art techniques. Each day will focus on a different medium, including painting, ceramics, printmaking, drawing, and collage. The students will also be given time to pursue the materials and topics that inspire them individually. The Art Studio camp is a perfect place for students looking for a creative outlet and a chance to expand their artistic knowledge


Minecraft

Love Minecraft or curious and want to give the world’s hottest game a try? Minecraft is a 3D simulation game in which players work to discover resources and use them to craft and build a unique world! Campers will complete challenges, puzzles, quests and games, all while playing Minecraft! There is a onetime fee of $26.95 to purchase a Minecraft login. The fee is included in the price of camp. The login and password will be yours to use after camp!

American Girl

Let's have some fun getting to know this year's Girl of the Year, Aspiring astronaut Luciana Vega, as well as revisiting some of our favorite American Girls from past years. Girls will enjoy a week of fun with creative crafts, cooking, dressing their dolls, and our always popular "spa" day. Whether you are new to the camp or have participated before, this promises to be a week of fun-filled activities. All activities are different from previous summers and afternoon activities are different from the morning camp session.

Community Cares

Get off the couch and get in to our city’s areas of need! Community Cares is designed to push students outside their comfort zone and experience Charlotte like never before. Students will travel to a different location each day to volunteer, better our community, and serve alongside their peers. The week will be spent at homeless shelters, food banks, inner city events, nursing homes and other places that serve the Charlotte community. Break from technology and “unplug” by plugging in to people. Students may use this camp for service hours required for school. This camp will cover basic Latin grammar and vocabulary for those coming into Latin for the first time, or for those who just need a little review. Basic skills learned will help student going into Intro Latin and Latin I.


LEGO® Robotics II

This camp is a great way to expand LEGO® Education WeDo Robotics knowledge. Campers may choose to build a tower crane, an intelligent house, a Ferris wheel, or a car! Campers will take their STEM education to the next level and expand their possibilities of creative problem-solving challenges and math connections while programming each of these larger models on the computer. Lego Robotics 1 is a prerequisite.


Lights, Camera….Stop Motion!

This camp will be a window into the world of animation. We will learn about the process of creating stop motion videos, and use this method to create our own short animations. The students will gain experience planning, creating, and editing videos on iPads. Stop motion is a real-world example of art and technology being used together to create stunning results.

This camp is brought to you by a Knights Tank winner, Olivia Jackson (rising 9th grader), whose grant allowed the purchase of sewing machines for the school to use to teach sewing and create items to benefit our community! Film Production 101

This camp aims to teach High School age students the basics of film production with the ultimate goal of writing, shooting, and editing a short film with a group of their peers. During their time in the camp, campers will learn how to craft a script from scratch, frame shots with the camera, direct actors and actresses, and upload and edit footage using Adobe Premiere. No experience necessary!


Knights Basketball

Campers will enjoy a week of basketball with Coach Shonn Brown, head coach of the nationally-recognized Charlotte Christian Knights. Coach Brown and his staff will teach the fundamentals of basketball through group instruction, team competition, daily contests, and individual attention. They will teach defensive and offensive skills that will help campers gain more insight to the game of basketball. There will be daily devotions/inspirational messages, outstanding guest speakers, contests, games, league play, prizes, and lowered baskets for younger players. Campers receive a certificate of participation. Campers should bring a snack. Early camp drop off is at 8:30 a.m. and parents are encouraged to come early and warm up with their child. Math Mania

Math Mania camp will be a great opportunity for students to enrich their math skills through math fact games, problem solving competitions, hands-on math experiences, and logical reasoning. iPads will also be used to enhance both math and technology skills. This camp will give students a mathematical edge as they grow their mathematical critical thinking skills. Students will be grouped according to grade level. Strongly recommended for students new to CCS for the 2018-19 school year.


Math Mania

Math Mania camp will be a great opportunity for students to enrich their math skills through math fact games, problem solving competitions, hands-on math experiences, and logical reasoning. iPads will also be used to enhance both math and technology skills. This camp will give students a mathematical edge as they grow their mathematical critical thinking skills. Students will be grouped according to grade level. Strongly recommended for students new to CCS for the 2018-19 school year.


Mythology for Boys

Explore the gods and cool dudes of ancient Greece and Rome. Campers will enjoy story-telling, hands-on activities, creative writing, and other theme related actitivies. Open to middle school boys, grades 6-8.

Elite Basketball

The Elite Knights basketball camp is designed to develop each player through the use of Coach Brown’s developmental drills along with constant interaction and feedback from the coaching staff. Instruction includes offense, defense, transition, multiple ball handling, dribbling, rebounding and shooting drills, pivoting drills, 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 play, multiple passing techniques, and motivational skills. Campers will learn from coaches and players of one of the nationally-recognized Christian high school basketball programs.


Flight Adventure Camp

Knights in Flight leaders, and former Knight Tank winners, Brian and Julian Segovia, with the sponsorship of Mrs. Ferrari Segovia will take you on an adventure through the world of flight. You will learn principles of aerodynamics as you build a glider that you get to keep. If you participated in last year’s camp, you’ll build a different model this year. You will also learn to fly micro drones, and play multiple competitive drone games. To top it off we will take you on a field trip to the Carolinas Aviation Museum that houses the “Miracle on the Hudson” aircraft. You will even get to sit in the cockpit of a Cessna 150 and F-4 Phantom. It is important to sign up by the deadline since materials need to be ordered for all participants in advance.


LEGO® Robotics I

The LEGO® Education WeDo robotics concept is a LEGO set that provides a taste of what robotics is all about. Campers will build LEGO models featuring working motors and sensors, connect them to the computer, and use a simple programming tool for program behavior. Campers will work with a series of cross-curricular, theme-based activities and develop skills within STEM.


Art & Yoga

Through the avenues of art and yoga, this camp will encourage students to slow down and appreciate the simple joys of creating and being active. Both the art and yoga activities will stimulate creativity and rest. This camp will provide students a wonderful opportunity to rejuvenate and grow creatively.

This session is designed for Seniors to preview submitted college essays from top schools around the country, to create, draft, and complete their essay, while also having it edited and reviewed by various writing professionals.This course will require at home work to complete what is not finished during the daily session.We have 5 days to write a memorable, unique, and impressive essay that is a true reflection of who you are and what you can contribute to where you are headed. This course will be an intense week but come Friday, your college application will be one step closer to COMPLETE!
