On Tuesday, Aug. 23, Charlotte Christian School kicked off its 61st year of education when 1,018 students and 172 faculty and staff members returned to campus for the first day of the 2011-12 school year. Charlotte Christian School is home to the Knights and provides a Christ-centered, college preparatory education for students in junior kindergarten through twelfth grade.
In May of 2011, Charlotte Christian graduated 107 seniors, the largest graduating class in school history. Students in the Class of 2011 were awarded more than $4 million in college scholarships for academics, athletics and fine arts.
Charlotte Christian School has 45 middle school, JV and varsity athletic teams, including football, baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball and swimming. The school is a member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) and a member of the Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA). Charlotte Christian also has an award-winning fine arts department including honors in band, theatre arts, and visual arts. The ACT 1 competition drama team was named North Carolina State Winners in the North Carolina Theatre Competition for both 2008 and 2010 and students in visual arts have accumulated multiple state and national awards including more than 40 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in 2010-11.
