CFO Terry Efird Recognized as Finalist for Charlotte Business Journal's 2017 CFO of the Year

Congratulations to Charlotte Christian School's Chief Financial Officer Terry Efird on being selected as a finalist for the 2017 Charlotte Business Journal's 2017 CFO of Year Award.  Mr. Efird is one of 13 area chief financial officers who have been nominated for the award which will be presented at the Charlotte Business Journal's 9th Annual CFO of the Year Awards dinner scheduled for July 13 at the Hilton Charlotte City Center.

Mr. Efird has had an exemplary 40-year career in business and finance in Charlotte.   For the past 14 years, Mr. Efird has diligently and skillfully led the school to its current strong financial position, including a significant reduction in long-term debt, a substantial increase in net assets, implementation of superior campus-wide accounting practices, and the oversight of six new building and campus renovation projects.

In 2003, Mr. Efird took early retirement from Bank of America after a successful 26 year financial career, as he felt God’s call to be the school’s full-time CFO.  In his time at Charlotte Christian, he has assumed many other roles while serving as CFO, including a year as Interim Head of School.  The school’s financial turnaround during his tenure has been blessed by a team effort with a visionary board of trustees, dedicated Finance Committee members, and a passionate staff.  His unwavering commitment and dedication to the success of CCS has played a huge role in the school’s financial health.

In 2015, he was honored by the board of trustees with the announcement that the new middle school/upper school media center would be named in honor of his late mother, Mrs. Bryte Little Efird, a lifelong educator from nearby Stanly County.  One hallmark of his success at Charlotte Christian is his love and desire to build relationships with each and every faculty and staff member and the joy he shares in his interaction with the students.  He brings outstanding leadership from the financial side, but it is his love for the mission and community at Charlotte Christian that has built unity and fostered successful growth for the school.
