Spiritual Life
Charlotte Christian School exists to prepare students to impact the culture for Christ. Whether it is in the area of academics, fine arts, or athletics, Biblical truth is at the heart of who we are at Charlotte Christian. Our goal is to help each student grow in their walk with Christ as they study, understand, and obey God’s word and develop a Christian world and life view. Beginning in the earliest of grades, students attend weekly chapels and are taught daily Bible lessons on an age-appropriate level. As students mature, additional academic and co-curricular opportunities exist to challenge them in their faith and to help them grow in their wisdom and understanding of who God is and what His plan is for them.
Chapel & Spiritual Life Conferences
Charlotte Christian has a continuing commitment to enhance the spiritual growth of its students and faculty. Besides classroom Bible instruction, weekly chapels, and annual all-school chapels, special times are set aside for additional focused spiritual instruction, worship, and/or service throughout the school year. The upper school participates in a Spiritual Life Conference Day and Bible studies. The middle school also participates in advisory-based Bible studies as well as Bible study groups. During Spiritual Life Conference days in both the middle and upper school, special speakers are invited to campus for a time of focused teaching and discussion, designed to challenge students in their Christian walk in a more thoughtful way.
Spiritual Retreats
Retreats and special spiritual emphasis days are planned each year for lower, middle, and upper school students as a time for spiritual renewal and relationship building.
Lower school students participate in S.L.A.M. (Spiritual Life and Meaning) days in the fall. Students in grades JK-5 gather in the Lamb/Johnson Gymnasium for team-building games followed by a time of praise, worship, and study. Students in grades 4-5 participate in team-building activities to help them grow in their leadership skills.
Middle and upper school students attend Windy Gap each fall, a Young Life-owned retreat center in the North Carolina mountains, where they spend two days and nights bonding with their classmates and growing in their relationships with Christ. Time at Windy Gap consists of chapel in the morning and evening, friendly class competitions, and free time in the afternoon. This annual event is a much-anticipated highlight of every school year.
Knights Service Hours & Service Days
The Knights Service program teaches students the joy of selflessly serving others in the name of Jesus Christ. Beginning in sixth grade, students are encouraged to earn service hours each year to teach them to serve in humility and develop good work habits.
Community service projects are available each year in partnership with local organizations. Charlotte Christian has recently supported Samaritan's Purse with Operation Christmas Child, The Odd Sock with collecting socks for the homeless, Bright Blessings with baby and hygiene kits and snack bags, Roof Above with making sandwiches for the homeless community, and the Harvest Center with collecting items for their members.
The upper school offers various local, regional, and international mission trip opportunities throughout the year, including during Winterim.
