Athletics

The Charlotte Christian School Athletic Department is committed to developing Christ-like character among our student-athletes and encouraging them to develop their God-given athletic abilities to their maximum potential. We accomplish this through a program that emphasizes Christian character and conduct, achievement in athletics, leadership skills, and respect for teammates and opponents.

Week of April 7-13

Senior Eliza Davis had two goals and two assists in the Lady Knights' win over Greensboro Day School last week.

Freshman Ethan Walker led the Knights in an 8-1 victory over Christ School. Ethan helped his doubles team come from down 1-5 to win 9-8 in a tiebreaker and followed that feat up by coming from a set down and 1-5 to a third set tiebreaker winning 10-3!

Week of April 1-6

Sophomore Morgan Banks went 4 for 6 at bat with two doubles, four RBIs and four runs in the Knights' two wins against Charlotte Country Day and Providence Day. She had 23 strikeouts in the 12 innings pitched. 

Junior Beckett Vance had two goals in the team's win over Charlotte Country Day. He has tallied 17 goals and four assists this season.

Week of March 24-30

Sophomore goalie Kathryn Taylor totaled 26 saves in the Lady Knights' three wins last week against Ardrey Kell, South Meck and Legion Collegiate. Kathryn has a 53% save percentage from last week's games. 

Junior Stokes Greene placed 27th out of 252 players at the Palmetto Championships scoring 73-75-71=219 which included a hole-in-one on the 17th at Caledonia in the last round. 

Week of March 17-23

Sophomore Caroline Coles scored three goals against Metrolina Christian and Cape Fear Academy and had three goals in the Lady Knights' win over Grace Academy.

Senior Thomas McNally shot a 71 (1 under par) to tie for 12th overall out of 80 players at the Azalea Invitational in Wilmington, N.C. at Cape Fear Country Club.  

Week of March 10-16

Junior MadisonRae Noble won the Clash of Carolinas high jump with a state leading jump of 5-6”. Her jump was the second highest jump in school history and only one inch off the school record.

Freshman Landry Struble had seven goals, two assists and eight ground balls in the Knights' two wins over Forsyth Country Day and Clover High School.  

Week of Feb. 18-24

Junior Sydney Francois had three hits, three RBIs, two stolen bases and scored one run in the season-opening 10-0 victory against Concord First Assembly.

Senior Tre Wilfong became a four-time state champion with a first period pin last week at the NCISAA state wrestling championships. Tre finished his career with 142 wins and in the top 12 at National Prep Championships. 

Week of Feb. 11-17

Junior Nina Dominique finished first in the 55m, with a time of 7.01, and first in the 300m, with a time of 40.14, at the N.C. Runners Independent School Indoor Championship. Her time in the 55m is the 11th fastest time in North Carolina history. 

The Knights Varsity Wrestling Team finished fourth in the state at the NCISAA wrestling championships. The top finishers included: Tre Wilfong (1st), Harrison Landon and Max McNeer (3rd), Sam Reynolds and Beck McNeer (4th), Max Howard and Caleb Henson (5th), and MJ Barrow (6th).

Week of Feb. 4-10

Senior Dominique Kay had 18 points and five steals in the team's win last week against Socrates Academy.

Junior Daniel Guandolo had 15 points and three steals against Latin, and 22 points and three steals against Covenant Day. 

Week of Jan. 28 - Feb. 3

Junior Kelsey Mayers placed 4th in the 100 yard back and 4th in the 100 yard fly at the CISAA conference meet last week. 

Junior Aron Boykin set the indoor school record in shot put with a distance of 46-6.25” at the Mondo Elite High School Invitational.  

Week of Jan. 21-27

Senior Olivia Dawson won the 55 meter dash and ran the second fastest time in school history with a time of 7.64 at the Turn Up the Heat meet last week. She placed fourth in the 300m with a time of 43.59, which was also the second best time in school history.

The 4x400 Relay Team of Peter Caswell, Ace Clements, Jack Krause and Jacob Simmons placed first in the Turn Up the Heat meet at Providence Day last week. Their time of 3:31.06 was the second best time in the state for private schools and ranked 10th best overall in the state.  

Week of Jan. 14-20

The Varsity Dance Team is enjoying another successful season under the leadership of captains Karsen Betzold and Kate Pannell. The girls performed a halftime and quarter routine at all home basketball games. The team also had a great time in New York City taking classes at the Broadway Dance Center and enjoying shows on Broadway.

Senior Tyler Wolff placed first and broke his own school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.81 last week against Cannon and Covenant Day. 

Week of Jan. 7-13

Junior MadisonRae Noble won both triple jump and high jump with a school record and NCISAA state leading high jump mark of 5-2” at the Sun Valley Polar Bear meet.

Freshman MJ Barrow went 5-1 this past week sealing team victories with pins in both the Wesleyan Christian Academy and CATA matches.

Week of Jan. 1-6

Senior Sophia Fair had 15 points and 10 rebounds in the Lady Knights' win against Westminster Catawba.

Sophomore Terence Guess posted game highs of 22 points against Ravenscroft and 24 points against Richland Northeast.

Week of Dec. 3-9

Sophomore Piper Fair combined for 17 rebounds, eight points, and four steals in the team's games against Wesleyan Christian and Forsyth Country Day.

Freshman Sam Reynolds led the team to a 3-1 record by going 4-0 with three pins.

Week of Nov. 26 - Dec. 2

Sophomore Kendal Beekman had 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals in the Lady Knights' win against Providence Classical. 

Freshman Marshall Nicholson had 19 points and seven rebounds in the Knights' win against Jackson Day School.

Week of Nov. 19-25

Senior Kayla Lee had 24 points and three rebounds in their win against Durham Academy and 16 points, three rebounds and two steals against Bessemer City. 

Freshman Beck McNeer went 3-0 with two pins last week against West Caldwell, Freedom High School and Hickory High School.

Week of Oct. 29 - Nov. 4

The varsity cheerleading team of 17 athletes is led by three senior captains, Kathryn Jamison, Kate Pannell and Kennedi Thompson, who worked together to choreograph incredible halftime, quarter and pep rally routines. The team participated in challenging stunts, advanced tumbling, pyramids and sideline cheers each week as they cheered on the Knights. 

Junior Aron Boykin had one interception returned for a touchdown and one fumble recovery to help the Knights defeat Cannon School in the first round of the NCISAA state tournament. 

Week of Oct. 22-28

Junior Sophia Harris just completed the season with a perfect singles record of 14-0 at line 1 singles and did not drop a set. Sophia dominated the season at line 1 winning most of her matches 6-0, garnering All-Conference and All-State honors. She teamed with Ellee Johnson at line 1 doubles for 9-1 record.

Sophomore Ross Goodrich, an offensive lineman, delivered an exceptional performance in last week's game against Country Day. Goodrich was pivotal in both pass protection and run blocking. His skill on the line greatly contributed to the team's offensive success.

Week of Oct. 15-21

Freshman Ellee Johnson won her last eight matches at line three singles and her last seven matches at line one doubles teaming with Sophia Harris. Ellee won all three of her singles and doubles matches in the NCISAA playoffs.

Senior Micah Gilbert had four receptions for 104 yards and an 81-yard touchdown, helping the Knights defeat Latin.

Week of Oct. 8-14

Sophomore Lexi Van Hoy won her singles match, clinching the victory over Charlotte Latin and won both singles and doubles in the final regular season match over Covenant Day.

Junior Andrew Boythe scored the game-tying goal and the game winning goal in overtime to help the Knights defeat Charlotte Latin, 2-1. The Knights went on to defeat Covenant Day in overtime to clinch the share of the CISAA conference title. 

Week of Oct. 1-7

Sophomore Chloe Scofield was the medalist in last week's match vs. Charlotte Latin and Cannon School with a score of 38. She is currently ranked fifth in the state with an average score of 37.6 leading the Knights to a 10-0 undefeated record so far this season.

Senior captain Ryland Tafoya set a new PR of 18:19 at the conference meet last week, dropping more than 40 seconds off his time from the beginning of the season.

Week of Sept. 24-30

Sophomore Anne Carlton won all six conference singles matches at line 2 and has not dropped a set for varsity tennis. Her wins are over Latin, Country Day, Cannon and Covenant Day. 

Senior Cross Killen led the varsity football team with 14 tackles, three sacks, three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery against Rabun Gap. 

Week of Sept. 3-23

Senior Avery Sehorn has been unstoppable on the right side for the Knights volleyball team. Last week she had six blocks and three kills against Latin.

Senior Ryan Henley ran the ball 12 times for 113 yards and had two touchdowns against Cannon School helping the Knights secure the win against the Cougars.

Week of Aug. 27 - Sept. 2

In the first two meets of the season, sophomore Kate Willette reset her own school record with a time of 18:42.2 and placed sixth in the Eye Opener Invitational meet competing with more than 300 runners.

Senior Nick Rosen had a hat trick against Metrolina Christian, leading the Knights to a 5-1 victory.

Week of Aug. 20-26

Charlotte Christian fields its first ever varsity girls' golf team and the Knights won their first ever match against Covenant Day and Charlotte Country Day. Sophomore Chloe Scofield shot 36, seventh grader Elyn Aldrich shot 39, and sophomore Maria Dermas shot 59 to combine for a team score of 134.

Sophomore Andrew Caswell was the Charlotte Christian top male runner at the Carolinas Kickoff meet, running a 17:06 in his first ever 5K. More than 25 teams competed at the meet and Andrew placed 17th overall in the boys' 5k championship.

Week of Aug. 13-19

Senior captain Hannah Arberg stepped in to play line 2 singles and dominated her opponent, 8-3. She also teamed with sophomore Anne Carlton to win line 1 doubles, 8-0, to lead the Lady Knights in winning their opening match against SouthLake Christian.

Senior Christian Vann displayed exceptional skills on offense and defense in last week's thrilling game vs. Myers Park. Christian carried the ball 12 times for 53 yards and had two touchdowns and one interception defensively.
