Charlotte Christian School seniors Anna Barnett and Jace Grauel were named the 2019 recipients of the Jennifer Hendrick and Kimberly Hendrick Memorial Scholarships during chapel held Thursday, Oct. 10. Mrs. Cathy Hendrick established the two scholarships in May of 2005 to provide full tuition for two seniors at Charlotte Christian School who exemplify a humble, Christ-like spirit, and heart of service to the Lord.
The scholarships are in memory and honor of her daughters, Jennifer Marie Hendrick and Kimberly Paige Hendrick, both Charlotte Christian graduates of the Class of 2000. Their precious lives, along with the life of their father, John Hendrick, family members and friends, were surrendered to the Lord on Oct. 24, 2004 in a tragic airplane accident.
Both scholarship recipients have been actively involved in the Charlotte community as well as life at Charlotte Christian. Anna is a member of the varsity softball team and is a two-time all-conference player and earned all-state honors as well as named to the All-Observer second team. She is a member of the National Honors Society, National Spanish Honor Society and earned a spot on the honor roll for the past three years. She has served as a C.E.L.L. group leader to middle school students and on the Admissions Prefect committee. Jace is a member of the Jazz Band and varsity cross country and track and field teams and Chess Club. He was named to the National Honor Society and is also a three-time honor roll member. He enjoyed school trips to Harvard Model Congress and March for Life. Jace has served as a C.E.L.L. group leader and summer camp counselor.
