Lower School

The lower school student at Charlotte Christian learns in an environment that provides a rich blend of strong academics combined with opportunities for individual and social growth, all from a Christian perspective. Students gain knowledge and an understanding of how all things fit together in God's plan as revealed in His Word. Teachers are equipped with the skills to teach, the compassion to nurture, and the creativity to make the academic challenge a road to discovery.

Grades JK-5

The Early Education program at Charlotte Christian works to prepare the next generation by offering a comprehensive education to its youngest students. This becomes a reality for the children in junior kindergarten and kindergarten as the Charlotte Christian faculty partners with the family to engage and develop the young learner through innovative practices and multi-sensory instructional strategies. Click here to learn more about junior kindergarten and kindergarten.

The lower school nurtures children in mind, body, and spirit. Students are engaged in learning through a rich array of educational experiences. A carefully aligned academic curriculum, developmentally appropriate enrichment activities, and an experienced, caring faculty and staff create an environment where children thrive in spirit as they grow in knowledge. Lower school students develop higher level thinking skills through a balanced academic curriculum and co-curricular activities.

Lower School After School Clubs

The extracurricular after-school program offers classes to lower school students as an opportunity to broaden experiences and sharpen skills and talents. Emphasis is placed on Christian character development, integrity, responsibility and concern for others. Different classes may be offered depending on interest and availability. It is our purpose that each student use these many and varied experiences to discover, develop, refine and excel with the wonderful talents God has given them so that Jesus Christ may be glorified in all things. These classes are available during an eight-week stretch of both semesters for an additional fee.

Lower School Theatre

Each spring, students in fourth and fifth grade are the cast of an amazing musical that includes as many as 100 cast members. Previous shows include Annie Jr., Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Kids, Alice in Wonderland, Stuart Little, Willy Wonka Kids and Disney’s Lion King Experience.

Intramural Athletic Programs are offered for lower school students to get involved in sports. For girls, intramural cheerleading is available in the winter and intramural basketball is available to both boys and girls in the winter season. There are various athletic opportunities available (i.e. flag football, running, soccer, lacrosse) after school through the after school clubs program depending on the semester.
