Apple Distinguished School
We are pleased to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2022-2025 for innovatively integrating Apple products into our instructional environment to support our curriculum and academic initiatives.
Our Story
At Charlotte Christian School we use our technology scope and sequence as a technology integration guide for student’s educational development. Our Portrait of a Graduate summary is the starting point to determine how a CCS graduate demonstrates mastery in academics, athletics, fine arts, service and technology. Working backwards from this point, students are taught technology skills at age appropriate levels.
Vision
At Charlotte Christian School we believe in developing the whole student. Through a variety of course offerings and a robust technology program, our students are given space to discover new things, create new experiences and cultivate new passions. From the classroom to the stage to the field and beyond, we understand the role that technology plays as a tool in our lives and embrace it with a forward-thinking approach. We are intentional about creating experiences for our students that allow them to enjoy God’s creation while balancing the use of technology.
Learning
When our teachers plan lessons, they integrate technology to transform and redefine the learning experience. Through an emphasis on higher order thinking skills and engagement through the SAMR framework, students are given the opportunity to discover, create and collaborate.
Success
The success at Charlotte Christian is driven and supported by the innovation and technology team that includes three instructional technology facilitators for each school division. Teachers are provided the tools to be mobile in the classroom, organize themselves digitally and utilize new and innovative technology to enhance the classroom experience.
What’s Next
We opened a new Middle School Building at the start of the 2022-23 school year and will open a new Upper School Building at the start of the 2023-24 school year. Both buildings will house new Innovation Suites with dedicated robotics rooms, a STEM fabrication lab, a broadcasting lab and flexible use classrooms that will be used for engineering and STEM classes. Our four new upper school science labs will feature state-of-the-art technology that will enhance our STEM program.
We are expanding our technology curriculum offerings that will include new middle school electives such as Advanced Engineering, 3D Modeling and Swift Playground Coding and new upper school using advanced tools such as FinalCut. Our new academic schedule has been adjusted to include a dedicated KnightTime period that will offer a daily time to develop enrichment opportunities in addition to time for academic support, chapels and assemblies.
Teachers are offered support on how to be innovative in the classroom. Charlotte Christian has a Technology and Innovation Cohort that provides teachers an opportunity to study and discuss the latest trends in instructional technology. The cohort demos the latest Apple devices as well as attends and presents at conferences. A goal for cohort teachers is to continue their Apple Teacher journey by completing their Apple Teacher Portfolio.
