Chief Financial Officer
Terry Efird joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2003 when he was asked to join the business office as the director of finance and operations. He served as the chief operating officer of Charlotte Christian School for the 2009-10 school year. Mr. Efird is responsible for managing the financial and facilities activities of the school, including the business office, facilities and security, capital investment and master site plan construction. Before coming to Charlotte Christian, Mr. Efird spent 26 years in the finance areas at Bank of America. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Terry and his wife, Kathy, have a son, Patrick (’03), daughter-in-law, Morgan, and granddaughter, Charlotte.
Director of Human Resources
Mrs. Leslie Prewette joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in August 2019 as the director of human resources. She is responsible for overseeing employee relations, benefits, recruiting and staffing, and regulatory compliance in addition to creating strategies to increase the number of qualified applicants for employment and implement an effective employee training program. Prior to coming to Charlotte Christian, she worked for Chick-fil-A serving as a project manager and had oversight of human resources. Prior to that, she served as the student life director at Carmel Christian School for two years, ministry development director at Five Stones Church for five years, and as a kindergarten teacher and admissions assistant at Carmel Christian for five years. She attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Leslie and her husband, Justin, have a son, Hudson (age 5), and twin daughters, Hadley and Hensley (age 3).
Lower School Principal
Miss Sharon Humphrey joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty on July 1, 2011, as the lower school principal. She is responsible for implementing the vision and providing the leadership to effectively manage the faculty and students of the lower school division. Miss Humphrey has more than 20 years of experience as a lower school educator and administrator. She brings to the lower school extensive expertise in curriculum development, staff development and mentoring, and relationship building between teachers, parents and students. Prior to coming to Charlotte Christian, she served as the lower school principal at St. David’s School in Raleigh for eight years. She graduated from Florida International University with a master’s degree in social work specializing in children and families.
Middle School Principal
Mrs. Brooke Morgan joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2017 as the upper school dean of students and moved into the middle school principal role in July 2020. As the upper school dean of students she was charged with coordinating student life activities, including the Prefect leadership system; served on the upper school admissions committee; chaired the disciplinary committee; facilitated advisory classes and J-Term opportunities; and served as the World Languages cross-divisional administrator and Accolade yearbook advisor. Mrs. Morgan came to CCS from South Charlotte Middle School where she worked for 10 years, most recently as the dean of students overseeing close to 55 faculty and supervising approximately 900 students. Mrs. Morgan holds a bachelor's degree in business and marketing education from North Carolina State University where she graduated with summa cum laude honors as valedictorian of the College of Education. She also holds her master's degree in educational leadership from Winthrop University. Mrs. Morgan and her husband, Kyle, have a daughter Graycen, who is in seventh grade at CCS, as well as a two-year-old son, Tucker, and an infant daughter, Annie.
Upper School Principal
Mr. Shonn Brown joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 1999 and moved into the role of upper school principal in 2017. As the upper school principal, Mr. Brown serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the upper school. He is also responsible for providing leadership for all academic, spiritual and operational programs, and activities in the upper school. He previously served as the upper school principal of student life at CCS. Mr. Brown’s prior roles at Charlotte Christian have included teacher, department chair, dean of students, coach, associate athletic director, and interim athletic director. A native of Charleston, S.C., Mr. Brown received his undergraduate degree in biology from Clearwater Christian College and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Covenant College. Shonn and his wife, Allycia, have two children: Terrelle ('18), currently a sophomore at Wheaton College in Chicago, Ill., and Morgan ('21)
Director of Academics
Dr. Theresa Kasay joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2011, as the director of academics. Dr. Kasay is responsible for curriculum development and implementation for junior kindergarten through grade 12. She also oversees accreditation, admissions, academic services, the technology department, the media centers, and teacher licensure. She has over 25 years of experience as an educator and administrator in both private and public schools. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia. She also holds two master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; a Master’s of Education in Reading, Language, and Literacy and Master’s in School Administration with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Kasay holds her EdD in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Supervision with an additional specialization in Superintendency from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In 2006 she was awarded the North Carolina Principal Fellowship.
Director of Athletics
Mr. Andy Ross joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2007 and as of 2017 is the athletic director. He serves as the head of the athletic department, providing leadership to coaches and athletic teams and overseeing all athletic operations. Mr. Ross received his BS in Biology from Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN. Andy and his wife, Lauren, have five children: Jason ('31), Hannah, Addie ('32), Luke ('34) and Eli.
Director of Communications
Mrs. Laura Goodyear joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2006 as the director of communications. She is responsible for overseeing all communications efforts for Charlotte Christian School including strategic planning, advertising, media relations, internal communications and online apparel. Prior to coming to Charlotte Christian, she worked in college athletic media relations. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with an emphasis in public relations. Laura and her husband, Zach, have two sons, Knox (‘28) and Hayes ('31), and an infant daughter, Reese.
Director of Fine Arts
Mrs. Leslie Niessner joined the Charlotte Christian faculty in 2015 as the band director and assistant director of fine arts and transitioned to the director of fine arts role in July 2020. During her tenure as the assistant director she developed the OPUS lower school music curriculum, fine arts e-newsletter, beginning ukulele curriculum for middle school, and has seen growth in both size and rigor for the band program as the middle and upper school band teacher. Prior to joining CCS she served as a band director in Union County public schools for 15 years. She received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University in music education and master of music degree from Winthrop University. Leslie and her husband, Jay, have two sons: Charlie (4) and Jackson (2).
Director of Development
Ms. Sara Blakeney joined the Charlotte Christian faculty in 2013 as the director of annual giving, responsible for the annual fund. In 2019 Ms. Blakeney transitioned to her current position as director of development, focusing on major gifts and capital campaigns. Prior to Charlotte Christian, Ms. Blakeney served as the executive director of alumni relations at Queens University of Charlotte and as the director of development at South Carolina's Children's Theatre. She has a BA in Communications from Hollins University and the earned her MPA from University of North Florida. Sara has two children: Maggie (’22) and Marshall (’25).
