Core Values
The core values of love God, show kindness, walk humbly, pursue excellence, and seek truth build the foundation of our community and our character education program at Charlotte Christian School. The school seeks to develop students with a lifelong biblical worldview and core Christian values. These core values share how our community should interact with each other. Each value has been defined and illuminated by scripture to give a better understanding of our commitment as a school anchored in Jesus Christ.
LOVE GOD
"And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." Matthew 22:37
We believe the greatest commandment is to love God. We as a community prioritize loving God, and therefore set aside time to create opportunities to spend time with God, learn more about God's story, and understand God's thoughts. We do this through intentional spiritual development opportunities in chapels and Bible classes and then also informally by the discipling that takes place daily through relationships built between teachers and students.
SHOW KINDNESS
"And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:39-40
We believe the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor. Every individual is an image-bearer of God and they deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. We are all created in God's image and everyone has intrinsic value - no matter their gifts, talents, socio-economic status, race, gender, or beliefs.
WALK HUMBLY
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. James 4:10
We believe God calls us to walk humbly and allow God to teach us what is good. We recognize all of our blessings and gifts are from the gracious hand of the Lord and thus we will not self-promote but rather allow God the honor of "lifting us up." As a school, we recite our benediction at the end of each chapel, "...and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8
PURSUE EXCELLENCE
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." Colossians 3:23
We believe our school can excel in academic preparation and focus on spiritual development. We firmly believe a school can excel in academic preparation while intentionally focusing on the spiritual development of its students and also offering a wide array of excellent co-curricular programs. We believe that if God has called us to it and He has generously gifted us, then we need to do it with excellence. We further call our students to use their gifts in academics, athletics, fine arts, etc. to honor God as they do their best in preparation and performance.
SEEK TRUTH
"Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world - to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” John 18:37
We believe that there is absolute truth and it is found in God's word. As a school we seek truth by diving into the scriptures to see where God stands on issues and how He guides us in regard to our behaviors and expectations.
Biblical Worldview
“…and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
Charlotte Christian School exists to prepare students to impact the culture for Christ. Whether it is in the area of academics, fine arts, or athletics, Biblical truth and the inerrant, infallible Word of God, are at the heart of who we are at Charlotte Christian. Our goal is to help each student grow in their walk with Christ as they study, understand, and obey God’s Word and develop a Christian world and life view so that they are well prepared to be successful contributors to God’s Kingdom.
Beginning in the earliest of grades, students attend weekly chapels and are taught daily Bible lessons on an age-appropriate level. As students mature, additional academic and co-curricular opportunities exist to challenge them in their faith and to help them grow in their wisdom and understanding of who God is and what His plan is for them.
The study of the Bible is a required part of the curriculum beginning in junior kindergarten and continuing through grade 12. The goal of the curriculum is for students to “grow in wisdom, stature and in favor with God” (Luke 2:40). In the pursuit of wisdom, emphasis is placed on practical application of the Bible, recognizing God calls us to not just be hearers of the Word, but doers as well (James 1:23). The English Standard Version of the Bible is used in all classes.
True Christian education is not simply a curriculum, which contains a Bible class. It is a manner of teaching in which students are led to make sense of the universe and their place in it by filtering their learning through God’s Word.
statement of faith
The members of the board of trustees, the faculty, and the student body represent various denominations and practices. The school is not under the direction, influence, or support of any particular church. Charlotte Christian School is dedicated to and operates according to the following statement of faith:
-
We believe that God is one being – infinitely just, wise, good, loving, and holy, and existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the sovereign Creator of the universe and by His providence sustains and rules all that He has made.
-
We believe that Jesus Christ, Son of God, is fully divine and fully human, and that He saves His people from their sin by His life, death, and resurrection, and is now ruling over His Church and the world through His Word and Spirit.
-
We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates sinners, resides in believers, and enables them to live a Godly life and to use the spiritual gifts He has given them.
-
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God, our final authority in matters of doctrine and practice.
-
We believe that sinners are justified by grace through faith on the basis of the finished work of Christ (His death and resurrection) and live this life by the power of God.
-
We believe that God is calling people from the whole human race to believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, and to become members of His Body, the Church. Those who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior enjoy the blessings of God and fellowship with each other in communities of faith until Jesus returns.
-
We believe that man, male and female, was created in the image of God, but fell into sin through the disobedience of Adam and Eve. As a result of the fall, all people are born sinful and in need of salvation.
-
We believe that marriage is a covenantal relationship created by God for a man and a woman. Sexual intimacy is a gift from God and has its proper place only within the context of marriage.
-
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, will return to renew the whole creation and to judge the living and the dead.
We believe Christian education is a partnership between students, faculty, and parents that provides an opportunity for students to learn and experience academics and co-curricular activities through a biblical worldview, in the presence of Christ-honoring faculty.
