2013-14 Theatre Season

The Fine Arts Department is excited to announce the following shows for the 2013-14 theatre season.

Lower School – Feb. 27-28 & March 1, 2014 at 7 p.m.
Auditions: Oct. 17, 2013

Disney’s Jungle Book KIDS
Music and Lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman and Terry Gilkyson • Additional Lyrics by Marcy Heisler • Book Adapted by Marcy Heisler • Music Adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle

Mowgli, Baloo, King Louie and the gang swing their way through madcap adventures and thwart the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan. Specially adapted from the beloved film, this musical includes all the favorite Disney tunes, like “The Bare Necessities,” and “I Wan’na Be Like You.”

Middle School – Nov. 14 & 16, 2013 at 7 p.m.
Auditions: Sept. 4, 2013; Callbacks: Sept. 5, 2013

Disney’s My Son Pinnochio, Jr.
Music and Lyrics By Stephen Schwartz • Book By David Stern

Pinocchio must prove himself brave, truthful and unselfish, but what about the toymaker? Raising a perfect child might not be as easy as it looks. The Blue Fairy and her Fairies in Training lead Geppetto on a hilarious journey through this fractured fairytale in order to discover what it means to be “A real father.”

Fiddler on the Roof
Book by Joseph Stein • Music by Jerry Bock • Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick
Based on Sholem Aleichem’s stories by special permission of Arnold Perl

In the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler On The Roof showcases world with its humor, warmth and honesty. The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion.

Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing

The war has ended and Don Pedro has come to Messina to visit his good friend Don Leonato, bringing two of his best friends with him - Benedick and Claudio. Claudio falls in love with Leonato’s daughter Hero and a marriage is agreed upon, while Benedick and Beatrice renew their hatred for one another through their battles of wit. In the days leading up to the ceremony, Don Pedro, with the help of the others, attempts to sport with Benedick and Beatrice in an effort to trick the two into falling in love. A series of comic and tragic events may continue to keep the two couples from truly finding happiness...will love prevail?

A Village Fable, a musical drama

Adapted from the book In the Suicide Mountains by John Gardner

An incredible journey of humor, heart and heroes, A Village Fable is a musical fable about three souls who are shunned for being different. These three stories weave in and out of each other, intertwining and finally overlapping when each character is pushed to the brink by pressures to conform to the world around them.

Order Tickets

Don’t miss any of the outstanding performances planned for this season.

Season tickets for the upcoming “Season of Journeys” are now available exclusively through the Charlotte Christian Box Office. Please complete the ticket order form to reserve your season tickets. Priority seating will be given to season tickets ordered by Oct. 1, 2013. 

Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the evening of the show. Ticket prices are $7 for general admission and $10 for reserved seating.
