Terry Efird joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2003 when he was asked to join the business office as the director of finance and operations.  He served as the chief operating officer of Charlotte Christian School for the 2009-10 school year.  Terry is responsible for managing the financial activities including overseeing the business office, the admissions, technology and facilities departments.  Before coming to Charlotte Christian, Terry spent 26 years at NCNB – Nationsbank- Bank of America.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University.  Terry and his wife, Kathy, have a son, Patrick, who teaches sixth grade Bible at Charlotte Christian.

Sharon Humphrey joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty on July 1, 2011, as the lower school principal.  She is responsible for implementing the vision and providing the leadership to effectively manage the faculty and students of the lower school division.  Sharon has more than 20 years of experience as a lower school educator and administrator.  She brings to the lower school extensive expertise in curriculum development, staff development and mentoring, and relationship building between teachers, parents and students.  Prior to coming to Charlotte Christian, she served as the lower school principal at St. David’s School in Raleigh for eight years.  She graduated from Florida International University with a master’s degree in social work specializing in children and families.

Amanda Poole joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 1997 when she taught Advanced Placement government, government and politics and psychology in the upper school.  She served as the assistant middle school principal for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 school years before being appointed as the new middle school principal in 2009.   As the middle school principal, Mrs. Poole serves as the chief spiritual, academic and administrative officer of the middle school.  She has a bachelor's degree from Meredith College and a Master of Education from Columbia International University.  Amanda is married to Mark and they have two children, Meredith and Carson.

Allen Nielsen joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2006 as the upper school principal.  As the upper school principal, Allen serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the upper school.  He is also responsible for providing leadership for all academic, spiritual and operational programs, and activities in the upper school.  Prior to coming to Charlotte Christian, Allen served 11 years as the junior high principal at Santa Barbara Christian School in California and 19 years as the upper school principal at Desert Christian School in Tucson, Arizona.  He has more than 30 years of experience in Christian education.  He has a master’s degree in educational administration, a Bachelor of Arts in history and a minor in athletic coaching from the University of California.   Allen and his wife, Sue, have four adult children and 10 grandchildren.

Theresa Kasay joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty on July 1, 2011, as the director of academics.  The director of academics position is new at Charlotte Christian and Theresa is responsible for curriculum development and implementation for junior kindergarten through twelfth grade.  She has more than 15 years of experience as an educator and an administrator in both private and public schools.  She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia and two masters’ degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte - a Masters in School administration specialization in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Masters of Education in Reading, Language and Literacy.    Since 2008, Miss Kasay served as the assistant principal of instruction at Bethel Elementary School in Cabarrus County.   In 2006 she was named a North Carolina Principal Fellow and served for a year as a principal intern at Elon Park Elementary in Charlotte before joining the faculty of Bethel Elementary. 

Cathie Broocks joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2008 as the director of admissions.  Cathie is in charge of the admissions process at Charlotte Christian.  Cathie and her admissions team introduce new families to our school through tours, personal appointments and open house events. Working with division principals, Cathie and her team seek to share the mission of Charlotte Christian School with inquiring families and to accept those students who can be positioned for success in all areas of their school life.  Before coming to Charlotte Christian, she served as the associate director of admissions at Cannon School.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia.  Cathie and her husband, Robert, have been married for more than 35 years and have three daughters, Carter, Meri-Spencer and Courtney.

Tom Jamerson joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2007 as the athletic director.  He serves as the head of the athletic department, providing leadership to coaches and athletic teams and overseeing all athletic operations.  Before coming to Charlotte Christian, Tom served as the athletic director at Wheaton Academy in Chicago and Regents School in Austin, Texas.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Ohio University where he played four years on the basketball team.  Tom and his wife, Amy, have four children: Lindsay, Isaac, Faith and Katie.

Laura Goodyear joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2006 as the director of communications.  She is responsible for overseeing all communications efforts for Charlotte Christian School including strategic planning, advertising, media relations, internal communications and online apparel.  Prior to coming to Charlotte Christian, she served as an assistant media relations director in the athletic department at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss.  She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in French.  Laura and her husband, Zach, have two sons: Knox and Hayes.

George Courtney joined the Charlotte Christian faculty in 2006 as the director of development.  George is responsible for creating the strategy and managing the activities for the Charlotte Christian development department.  His responsibilities include overseeing the annual Quality Plus Fund, capital campaigns, Charlotte Christian Golf Challenge, alumni programs and the estate and planned giving programs.  Prior to coming to Charlotte Christian, he had extensive experience running two major capital campaigns at Christian Medical & Dental Association (CMDA) in Bristol Tenn., as well as having developed the Estate and Planned Giving program and Family Heritage Giving Funds for CMDA.  George has a Bachelor of Science in church ministries and a minor in Christian counseling from Liberty University.  He has completed his education certification and taken extensive coursework on estate design and planned giving.  George and his wife, Rose, have a son Noah.

Shannon Edwards joined the Charlotte Christian School faculty in 2008 as the director of human resources.  Her responsibilities include recruitment and retention, employee training and development and campus safety and health. She came to Charlotte Christian with 10 years of experience in the area of human resources.  Shannon has a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University. Shannon and her husband, Randy, have three children, Sarah Beth, Emma and Spencer.
