Visual Arts
The award-winning visual arts program at Charlotte Christian allows students at the earliest stages to delve into the world of art by studying great artists, growing their creativity, and fine-tuning their technical skills. From ministry to campus art shows to local, statewide and national competitions, opportunities abound for students to demonstrate their love and mastery of art.
Lower School
The elementary art education program at Charlotte Christian introduces students in grades JK-5 to various techniques and media including drawing, painting, collage, charcoal, watercolor, oil pastels, and more. Students are encouraged in their creativity to express the beauty of God’s creation and participate in campus collage art shows and local arts festivals.
Middle School
At all age levels, the visual arts program at Charlotte Christian gives students the opportunity to explore various media. Middle school students build on their knowledge and skills with the addition of graphic design, mixed media, photography, sculpture, and computer generated/modified art.
Upper School
Students have the opportunity to advance to numerous class options including Studio Art Honors, AP Studio Art, Digital Photography, Adobe Illustrator, Art II, and AP Art History. Students utilize basic “principles of design” and master the ability to see artistically and solve visual problems creatively. Students also compete in numerous art competitions including the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition, Congressional Art Competition, Patriotic Art Competition, Festival in the Park, Matthews ArtFest, and the school’s own Spring Collage Art Show.
