Admissions Process

We are excited that you are interested in Christian education at Charlotte Christian School for your family. The application process begins by submitting an Admissions Application along with a $90 non-refundable application processing fee. Upon receipt of the completed application, fee, and additional required documents, we will contact your family to schedule on-campus activities such as class visits and principal interviews. Charlotte Christian has a rolling admissions process and will continually accept applications where class availability exists. Application Process - JK-Grade 1

Admissions Application and $90 non-refundable application fee submitted before January 15, 2013.

JK and K Placement Guidelines
A child should be 4 years old by Feb. 1 of the year he is applying for Junior Kindergarten.  A child should be 5 years old by June 1 of the year he is applying for Kindergarten.  A child’s birthday is always viewed in the full context of developmental maturity and will include physical, emotional and social development as well as academic readiness.

Schedule the WPPSI-III Test (Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence).
Please download the CAIS (Charlotte Area Independent Schools) booklet for a list of area psychologists who can administer this test. Request that scores be mailed to Charlotte Christian School prior to February 1, 2013.

Download the Teacher Recommendation Grade JK -1 form.
This form must be completed by the child’s current teacher after November 1, 2012 and mailed to Charlotte Christian School before February 1, 2013. Recommendations may be mailed or faxed to Charlotte Christian School directly from your child’s current school or submitted in a school-sealed envelope.

On-Campus Play Date (developmental screening). After an application has been received and a CAIS appointment has been scheduled, the admissions office will schedule a 45-minute campus play date for junior kindergarten and kindergarten applicants and a half day visit for grade 1 applicants. 

File materials (application, fee, teacher recommendation form, and WPPSI test results) should be completed and returned by February 1, 2013.

Family Interview
Once the above items are received, families will meet with the admissions director and/or lower school principal. Visits occur in January and February.

Decision letters will be mailed February 22, 2013.

Application Process - Grades 2-5

Admissions Application and $90 non-refundable application fee submitted before January 15, 2013

Download the Teacher Recommendation Grade 2-5 form and Submit a Transcript Release
Charlotte Christian requires the completion of a teacher recommendation form and a transcript* from your child’s current school. Please download these forms and send to your current school with a request that they be returned to Charlotte Christian by March 1, 2013. Recommendations may be mailed or faxed to Charlotte Christian School directly from your child’s current school or submitted in a school-sealed envelope.

*A transcript includes report cards, all standardized testing/end of year testing, and any other assessments which may be helpful to the admissions process.

Woodcock Johnson Testing
Required for applicants in grades 1-4. Please download the CAIS (Charlotte Area Independent Schools) booklet for a list of area psychologists who can administer this test. Request that scores be mailed to Charlotte Christian School prior to March 1, 2013.

Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)
Required for applicants in grade 5. Charlotte Christian School, in conjunction with CAIS (Charlotte Area Independent Schools), uses the ISEE as a component of academic assessment. The exam requires pre-registration which can be done at www.iseetest.org or with ISEE at (800) 989-3721. Please request that scores be mailed to Charlotte Christian School prior to March 1, 2013.

Family Interview
Once an applicant file is complete and testing arrangements made, a student classroom visit and family interview will be scheduled. Visits occur November through March.

File materials (application, fee, teacher recommendation form, transcript, Woodcock Johnson Test or ISEE test results) should be completed and returned by March 1, 2013.

Decision letters will be mailed April 5, 2013.

To be completed by each student applicant in grades 6-12

Teacher Recommendations (English, Math, Principal/Guidance Counselor) and Transcript Release
