Congressman Robert Pittenger of North Carolina spoke with CCS students as they participated in March for Life in Washington, D.C.

A group of 80 Charlotte Christian upper school students traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 44th annual March for Life demonstration held Jan. 27, 2017 on the National Mall. The annual trip to Washington has become a favorite for CCS upper school students as they look forward to the chance to share their voices and march with others in support of pro-life.

The students from Charlotte Christian joined hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country who came to Washington to make a stand for human rights.  The Charlotte Christian students traveled with faculty/staff members Dr. Donn Headley, Mr. Steve Hoff, Mrs. Kim Greene, and Mrs. Judy Myers.

CCS students also had the chance to visit with Congressman Robert Pittenger of Charlotte, U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 9th Congressional District, who was also participating in the March for Life.

"We were excited to take a very passionate group of students to march for the most important civil rights issue of our day, that being the fight to protect the life of the pre-born," shared Dr. Headley and Mr. Hoff, upper school history teachers and organizers for the event. "The pre-march rally was like nothing we had ever seen or experienced. Picture some 200,000 - 300,000 people (mainly kids) praising God (hands up in the air, singing loudly), and our kids were truly caught up in the moment. This year's march had a whole different feel to it, and seeing our Lord lifted high had a huge impact. As chaperones, we were all just overwhelmed at the response, and so, so proud of the students who participated."
