Based on the ever-popular Shark Tank television show, Charlotte Christian recently introduced a new program called Knight Tank to encourage students and teachers to develop and implement new and innovative programs that would enhance educational experiences. Teams of students and faculty members had the opportunity to present their proposals to a review board and compete for future funding of their ideas.  The panel of judges included Head of School Barry Giller, Chief Financial Officer Terry Efird, Board of Trustees member Charles Saleh and Student Body President Taylor Burch.

Congratulations to Knights in Flight, presented by the team of Julian Segovia (grade 6), Brian Segovia (grade 9), Ms. Kaylah Holland, middle school technology facilitator, and Mr. Steve Beezhold, upper school technology facilitator.  Their winning proposal was for an after school club for middle and upper school students that would focus on the science and mechanics of building and flying drones through the Flite Test STEM curriculum.

Thanks to the Knight Tank program and the ingenious ideas of the Knights in Flight team, Charlotte Christian middle and upper students will have the opportunity to engage in STEM driven learning and hands-on experiences with a new drone education program.

Other Knight Tank finalists included:

Up All "Knight" - an idea for an on-campus coffee shop to include collaboration with upper school business and visual art classes presented by upper school students Clay Bryant, Gracie Burt and Taylor Grigg, and Mr. Jeremy Cummings as their faculty supervisor.

Uke Can Do It -  a proposal to launch a new ukulele program in the lower school music education program, presented by Mrs. Leslie Niessner and a group of lower school music students.
