All applicants need to submit an application with a $90 non-refundable application fee. Several components are used to assess a child’s readiness for our Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs:
- WPPSI-III testing (the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence, a cognitive assessment)
- On-campus play date (developmental screening)
- Current teacher’s recommendation
- Family interview
The WPPSI must be scheduled before a play date is set. Our goal is to place children who are both academically and developmentally ready for our programs. The family interview provides a time for the school and the parents to personalize questions and compare family hopes with our school’s mission and vision.

JK and K Application Process – for priority consideration
- Submit application for each child with a $90 non-refundable fee before January 15, 2011.
- Call CAIS (Charlotte Area Independent Schools) psychologist to schedule WPPSI testing. Request that scores be mailed to Charlotte Christian School. Click here for CAIS booklet.
- After November 1, send teacher recommendation form to current teacher and request completed form be mailed to Charlotte Christian School before February 1, 2011.
- Once an application has been received and a CAIS appointment scheduled, you will be contacted by the admissions office to schedule an on-campus play date. Visits occur December through February.
- File materials (application, fee, teacher recommendation form, results of CAIS testing) should be completed and returned by February 1, 2011.
- Decision letters will be mailed on February 25, 2011.
