Accreditation

Charlotte Christian School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - Council of Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS-CASI) and is also a member of the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools (NCAIS) as well as the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Below please find information about accreditation.

For more than two decades, Charlotte Christian School has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (now known as SACS-CASI). This accrediting agency is recognized by the US Government Department of Education as one of the highest accreditations an educational institution can receive in academia.

SACS-CASI accreditation means that Charlotte Christian is committed to standards of excellence derived from educational research and best practices. The standards assess topics such as “teaching and learning” and encompass all aspects of the school.

The accreditation also signifies that Charlotte Christian is engaged in a continuous process of improvement. The mission, vision and direction of Charlotte Christian focus on providing the best educational experience for each child in academics, athletics, fine arts and spiritual life. The personnel, curriculum, programs and operations are evaluated every year by faculty, staff and leadership. Part of the school improvement process includes seeking input from the school community.  We will periodically conduct surveys, focus groups, and committee meetings to seek input.  We seek parent feedback about programs, practices and policies. We also seek feedback from students, university experts, curriculum experts and educational specialists.

Charlotte Christian is committed to an ongoing improvement plan in all areas of our school community. Every five years all SACS-CASI accredited schools undergo a school improvement process quality review. In the fifth year of every accreditation cycle, educational experts and representatives from SACS-CASI visit the school and examine personnel, curriculum, programs and operations. Charlotte Christian was last visited in the fall of 2007 and will be visited next in 2012.

During our last visit, we received very high marks for meeting, and in many areas, exceeding the standards of accreditation. We expect to meet and whenever possible exceed the standards once again in our re-accreditation visit in 2012.

The improvement plan at Charlotte Christian includes but is not limited to the following strategic programs:

  1. Prepare students to participate as informed and thoughtful citizens in a global community by ensuring that they have incorporated reading comprehension strategies into their skill set and by teaching them critical thinking skills.
  2. Develop an improved mentoring/support program for employees new to Charlotte Christian School.
  3. Improve communications
    • The administrators, faculty and staff desire to effectively and efficiently communicate with parents in a timely positive manner. This goal presupposes an understanding of the families that Charlotte Christian School serves.
    • The administrators, faculty and staff want to better publicize and/or provide resources and training to parents so that parents can provide support to students as they grow/mature spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.
    • Develop and maintain communication protocols to ensure positive communications among all stakeholders.
  4. Improved technical systems
    • Create a process for acquiring and delivering information via the website that fosters use of consistent formats and schedules.
    • Develop a technical manual for employees.

These plans, along with our existing programs ensure that we will continue to excel in academics, athletics, fine arts and spiritual life.  The school improvement process ensures that we will continue to support the education of the whole child – heart, mind, body and soul. As a Christ-centered, college preparatory school, our improvement plans, along with our SACS-CASI accreditation, ensures that we will continue to excel in academics, athletics, fine arts and spiritual life.

SACS accreditation reflects the commitment made by our faculty, staff and families to this mission, vision and direction.
